Airport Authority of India concerned over people affected by Airport projects

GUWAHATI: Commencing the Concrete roof work for a local community centre at Garal near Guwahati Airport on Friday, Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, AAI {North East Region) said that we are committed for the development of people living around the airport, especially who were affected by our projects.

Inspecting the construction works, Jindal said, ‘I am much satisfied with the quality of work and project progress of this community centre. Materials used and their implementation is at par with Metro cities.’ I am hopeful that it will be completed in record time and will help the local community, he added.

Highlighting the double-digit passenger’s growth of Guwahati Airport, he said, ‘LGBI Airport, Guwahati is not only gateway to North East rather it has become the backbone of connectivity for NER. It has seen unprecedented traffic in last FY 2018-19 of over 27% Which is above many international airports, he informed.

The Garal community centre is being constructed under the CSR scheme of AAI for Rs. 2.37 Cr. Local community guests present on the occasion included Mantu Kr Baruah; President Garal Taluk, General Secretary Bijoy Barua, Secretary Garal Taluk, Khnindra k, JE, Assam PWD and other members of Garal Taluk.
