AIUDF legislator draws flak for uploading live Assembly video on Facebook

GUWAHATI, Feb 3: AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam on Friday drew flak after he uploads a live video of his speech in the Assam Assembly on Facebook. Islam act has invited attack from Parliamentary Affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, who termed his act as a sheer violation of Assembly rules.

In the video, which went viral, Dhing MLA Islam was seen addressing at the Assembly.

Aam Aadmi Party lawmaker Bhagwant Mann in July last year had filmed a video entering Parliament by crossing several security layers and posted it on social media.  Criticizing his Mann, several MPs had termed his act as a security breach.

Islam, however, justifying his act said that there is no such rule that a video cannot be uploaded on social media.  “If the Speaker declares it as violation of Assembly rules, I will not do so in future,” Islam told reporters outside the Assembly.

This is first such incident in the state, where an MLA uploaded Assembly proceedings on social media.

Raising the issue in the Assembly, Minister Patowary slammed the act of the legislator.

Without ming the MLA, Patowary said, “Such an act is a misuse of technology. We should abstain from doing such irresponsible act in the House.” After the Assembly session, Speaker Hitendra th Goswami said that several legislators have given complaint to him against the act of the MLA. “I have taken the matter seriously. The matter will be disposed off on Monday,” the Speaker said.
