AJYCP cordons NH-37 in protest against Bill

GUWAHATI, May 12: More than thousand activists of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), led by its Guwahati City Committee have staged a road blockade at NH-37 near Boragaon demanding to withdraw the divisive Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016 on Saturday.

Leading the protest in front, the Guwahati city committee president Pradip Kalita and general secretary Krishna Kanta Roy said that the controversial legislation will cause irreparable damage to the Assamese society. “It will destroy the entire civilization and the ethnic fabric of Assam,” the duo said. Highly criticizing the BJP’s twist on the Bill, the executive duo have cautioned the saffron squad not to indulge in communal politics and pressed that the foreigners irrespective of Hindu or Muslim must be deported on the basis of Assam Accord.

Meanwhile, the activists also burnt the copies of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill-2016 and cautioned the anti-Assamese forces to refrain from divisive politics.
