AJYCP stages protest to demand inner line permit

JOYSAGAR: In support of the demand to implement the inner line permit system in the State, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) Sivasagar district committee members staged a two-hour sit-in in front of the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday. Hundreds of AJYCP and AJMP activists took part in the protest. The organization in their memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner demanded to implement the inner line permit system in Assam too like in other north-eastern States. The inner line permit system could prevent fresh influx to Assam as well as to other north-eastern States, stated the memorandum.

Golaghat: The activists of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Golaghat district committee staged a protest on Monday near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Golaghat demanding inner line permit and dual citizenship in Assam. The activists raised various slogans against the Central Government and the State Government. The president of the organization, Abdul Hasim said, “Inner line permit, as well as dual citizenship, is very important in a State like Assam. This will not only check foreigners from coming in but also stop them from permanently settling here.”

AJYCP central committee joint secretary Jitul Rajkhowa said inner line permit was their long-pending demand. He criticized the Central Government for not granting dual citizenship and inner line permit in Assam. He said that there was a mysterious reason behind the initiative for inner line permit and dual citizenship.
