SILCHAR: The unjustified and unfair rise in examination fees for Third Year Degree (TDC) courses for colleges has made it difficult for poor students to enroll themselves. It is also affecting students belonging to the middle class or upper middle class families. In this regard, All India Democratic Students’ Organization (AIDS), Cachar district committee, has submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Assam University on Friday. They have stated that the enhanced examination fee has rendered it impossible for a large number of students to take admission in TDC courses.

The present semester system of education binds a student to take up two final examinations in a single year. If the fees are increased in this wayward manner, students will have to leave their colleges. The memorandum has been signed by Gour Chandra Das, secretary, AIDSO, Cachar district committee. The AIDSO has urged the Vice Chancellor of the Varsity to take immediate measures to control unjustified enhancement of examination fees.
