All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union expels vice president and general secretary

Kokrajhar: In a sudden development ahead of the third phase of the election, the All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU) on Saturday evening expelled its vice president Mukul Baruwa and general secretary Gakul Barman for their alleged involvement in anti-organizational activities.

The central committee of AKRSU invited Kokrajhar media persons for a press briefing on Saturday night at its Kalipukri office and announced their expulsion. The president of the student body, Arun Kr. Ray made the formal announcement of expulsion of the two senior leaders in presence of advisor Hiteswar Barman and other top leaders.

The president of the AKRSU, Arun Kr. Ray said the student body expelled the two senior leaders for their involvement in anti-organizational activities. He said the duo announced through certain newspapers that the AKRSU would extend support to BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma without the decision and consent of the central cabinet. He said that both the leaders met BPF president Hagrama Mohilary and immediately announced that the Koch Rajbongshis would extend support to BPF candidate without discussing the matter. He also said it was a clear violation of the rules and constitution of the organization. He further said that the AKRSU had already decided to vote against the BPF and BJP and to support independent candidate Naba Kumar Sarania.

Sources said that some of the leaders of AKRSU met BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary and after that they ignored the decision of the organization for reasons best known to them.
