All Tai Ahom Students' Union of Golaghat district burns Union Minister Arjun Munda's effigy

GOLAGHAT: The activists of All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU), Golaghat district committee burnt the effigy of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda on Thursday at Bezbaruah Point in Golaghat town for allegedly commenting against granting ST status to six ethnic communities of Assam, in the Parliament.

The activists shouted various slogans against the BJP government. ATASU leaders Krishna Baruah and Pankaj Gogoi slammed the BJP government and Arjun Munda for commenting against granting ST status to the six communities. They said that the BJP government had given false assurances only to get the votes of the people of the six communities in the elections. They threatened to launch a massive stir if the government did not grant ST status to the six communities soon.

DEMOW: The activists of All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU) Sivasagar District Committee and ATASU Demow Regional Committee burnt the effigy of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda in Demow Chariali at NH-37 Road on Thursday in protest against his alleged comment against granting ST status to the six ethnic communities. The ATASU activists shouted various slogans against the Cabinet Minister. The ATASU activists also demanded ST status for the six ethnic communities.
