All Tangsa Students Union Irked at AAPSU Silence on PRC

ITANAGAR: Condemning the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union’s (AAPSU) stand on the PRC issue and the Joint High Power Committee (JHPC) final recommendations, the All Tangsa Students Union (ATSU) has asked the president and general secretary of AAPSU to resign from its respective posts.

Addressing reporters here at the Press Club on Thursday, ATSU president Sengman Ronrang said despite the mass resolution passed earlier at the federal meeting organized at Tezu to oppose the PRC, AAPSU has not even raised their voices against granting of PRC to the Non-APST.

“Our voice and faith has been crippled by the AAPSU president and general secretary and thus we will boycott any movement by the union in Changlang district in the future and even urge the business community, bureaucrats and others not to entertain the union,” Ronrang said.

ATSU also condemned the Changlang District Students Union (DSU) for not submitting a memorandum to the JHPC opposing PRC and accused them of being responsible for the passing of the JHPC recommendations.

The union also alleged that the JHPC, on political grounds, excluded Papumpare and Lohit districts from the ambit of PRC to Non-APST.

“We also question the local MLA of the constituency for being voiceless in the PRC issue. Being a local guardian of the constituency he had to initiate a move opposing the granting of PRC,” Ronrang added.

Ronrang said we oppose the contentious PRC recommendations and want the immediate resignation of the JHPC chairman and the formulation of a new JHPC with members from non-political organizations.

Terming everyone (Ministers) in the JHPC as anti-indigenous, the union has asked the State Government to put on hold the final recommendations.

Meanwhile, ATSU general secretary Samchan Changmi said the ex-serviceman (Gorkhas) settled at Vijoynagar circle of Changlang district should be compensated for their contribution to the State and their 30-year land lease be renewed.
