All-woman Railway Protection Force (RPF) Squad Launched in NE Region

GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Lumding Division has taken a significant step towards enhancing the security of women in the NE region on January 19, 2019. A dedicated Railway Protection ForceWomen Squad named as Joymati Bahini, comprising women sub-inspector and constables of the Railway Protection Force was officially launched by BB Mishra, Inspector General cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner of NF Railway at Kamkhaya Railway Station. It was named after the courageous princess, Joymati to have a constant motivating factor to be courageous, dedicated and perseverant at all times in the service to society.

The main aim of the Joymati Bahini is to strengthen women security around Guwahati region within railway premises and trains. The members of the Joymati Bahini started their duty by interacting with women passengers at the Guwahati and Kamkhya Railway station to provide and ensure foolproof security arrangements for women and children. Passengers are also being told to dial 182 immediately in case of an emergency on running trains or platforms. Their main focus area is to enhance women security by ensuring the sanctity of reserved compartments, women compartments, a press release stated.
