Ambassador of Norway and Team Visits Tocklai Research Institute

JORHAT: Ambassador of Norway, Nils Ragnar Kamsvag and his team were thrilled to witness the tea tasting process at the world’s oldest and pioneer tea research institute, Tocklai. Soon after their arrival, they were briefed by the chairman of Tocklai Research Institute, Prabhat Bezbaruah, who is also the chairman of the Tea Board of India. He elaborated about the making of varieties of tea till the sorting and labeling by researchers, said Dr. Anup Kumar Barooah, the director of Tocklai, on Thursday.

The Tocklai director said the five-member team along with the Ambassador of Norway discussed about the effects of weather change and about the fluctuation of rainfall that affects the production of tea yield and what could be done in the days to come. They proposed a similar type of project like Resilience which will also help to improve tea productivity, adaptability, capacity and livelihood of small tea growers.
