Another person killed in wild jumbo attack in Nagrijuli

Tamulpur: Due to the continuous atrocity of wild elephants, people of Nagrijuli area are spending sleepless nights. On Tuesday morning, an isolated wild elephant named Laden attacked one person and killed him on the spot. The deceased person has been identified as Sambhu Boro (55) of village Kumbhijhar Janmoni Chowk under Nagrijuli police outpost in the district of Baksa. According to the local people, while Sambhu was working in the crop field, suddenly the wild elephant appeared and attacked him and killed him. Local people informed Nagrijuli police outpost about the incident. Nilhil Singha, in-charge of Nagrijuli police outpost, rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Sambhu and arranged to send it for post-mortem.

Laden had killed Raghu Munda alias Ajay at the tea estate on Monday. Within 24 hours Laden killed two persons at Nagrijuli. The wild elephant also destroyed four shops and one house at Bhaoraguri (Gogon Chowk) village and ate all the materials stored inside the shops and houses. Local people claim that forest officials are not taking measures for their security. People have demanded protection of their lives and property or they would be compelled to launch a stir against the forest department.
