Anti-graft body demands white paper

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itagar, March 26: The Aruchal Anti-Corruption Se (AACS) has demanded the state government to issue a white paper on ‘non-submission of utilization certificate (UC)’ against Rs 3500 crores under various centrally sponsored schemes during the 2013-14 fincial year. “The public has a right to know why the state government has neither submitted the utilization certificate to the central government nor explained where Rs 3,500 crores have been used,” AACS general secretary ST Tara told reporters here. He alleged that “the fincial crisis of the state is hitting the public hard while the state and the centre are playing blame games.”

The AACS has placed five other demands before the state government, which includes recommendation of President’s Rule by the governor; setting up of a Lokayukta institute in the state; finding a permanent solution to the interstate row with Assam; scrapping the prepaid metering system in the capital; and issuing a white paper on ‘mismagement of Rs 110 crores under the revised estimate scheme in PWD (WZ) during March 2014.’

Tara said the AACS is demanding President’s Rule in the state in view of the state government’s “ibility to overcome the fincial crisis.” When asked whether they have found any cases of new installation of PPEM in the capital complex, Tara claimed that the capital complex electrical department’s executive engineer “has informed that installation, which was temporarily stopped due to hectic March-ending period, will be renewed from April 1 next.”

The AACS also informed that its members will take out a peaceful rally from Nyikum Niya ground in Nirjuli to IG Park here April 20 as its first phase of protest if the state government fails to address its demands within 15 days from today.
