APB & OCWWB office building inaugurated at Itanagar

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB & OCWWB) Chairman Jalley Sonam inaugurated its office building at ESS Sector, Itanagar on Monday.

The building has been purchased at an estimated cost of 4.5 crore of which the necessary formalities is being done after the government of Arunachal Pradesh approved the proposal of having own building in and around state capital. Addressing the media APB&OCWWB Chairman Jalley Sonam said that having own office building was one of the important demand of the several trade union leaders and staffs of the Board for last 12 years.

The office of the Board has been shifting from building to building in several rented apartment and there have been lost of inconvenience to the staffs and members of Board and registered workers leaders of state. “It is a dream come true to have its own permanent office today after it is formally inaugurated, he said.”

He also informed that it could not be done without the support of the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Labour minister Kumar Waii and thanked for his reappointment in the Board as Chairman.

Jalley said that the fund for procurement of permanent building has been arranged from the fund collected from various departments and no other fund was given or utilised.

He said that we have tried a lot for getting a suitable land for construction of office building but it was found that the rate of land was too high and again it would take several crores for construction of building with compound wall, protection wall and other which was not possible.

But in this case we called tender and expression of interest and we select as this building is located at very accessible for the workers and union leaders which have connectivity with National Highway and other arterial roads.

“So far there are 49000 registered workers in state and the Board is trying it all out efforts in supporting the workers with its welfare schemes to them, he added.”

He said that the lost glory of the Board is brought back and it was possible through the support and cooperation of all stake holders. Meanwhile he appealed all worker union and other leaders for supporting the workers community as the workers are treated as bone of the development of infrastructure.
