APCC demands SIT probe into untied fund ‘misuse’

Itanagar, June 13: In the wake of recent allegation of gross misappropriation of ‘untied fund’ by the Kra Daadi district Deputy Commissioner as alleged by the district students’ union, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded of the state government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) immediately to investigate the matter.

The party today in a statement said the Chief Secretary should take the entire responsibility for such a big scam in untied fund, while stating that it had submitted a representation to the chief secretary on March 26 this year seeking his immediate intervention to stop the release of untied fund of Rs 221 crore allotted to various departments for developmental projects in the districts, assuming that it may emerge as a big scam in the state.

It added, in spite of strong opposition by APCC on the release of untied fund, no action has been initiated by the chief secretary, as a result of which, there is huge misappropriation of untied fund meant for welfare schemes of Kra Daadi district amounting to more than Rs 7 crore and also violation of laid norms for execution of Special Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) schemes amounting to more than Rs 1.5 crore by the DC, as alleged by the All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU).

“BJP’s dictum of ‘non-corruption governance’ has no relevance, whereas corruption is taking place blatantly in such a manner in the highest level,” alleged the APCC.

Further taking a dig at Pema Khandu government, the APCC claimed that under the Pema Khandu led BJP Govt, the law & order in Arunachal Pradesh is deteriorating day-by-day with cases of murder, theft, rape, kidnapping, atrocities on women & girls, etc on the ‘rise’. The people of the State are now living with fear psychosis for the safety of their lives and properties.

It said, the recent ‘missing & rape’ of a 17-year-old minor girl of Doimukh circle, vandalisation of a top government officer’s residence at Nirjuli and assault of a person by a group of miscreants on June 4 last, bizarre incident of attack by daos on a person causing grievous injuries on June 9 at Padu village under Mariyang sub-division are a matter of concern and these vindicate the “total failure” of the BJP government to control the law & order situation in the state.

“If he (CM) cannot able to control the deteriorating law & order issues, then he should be respectfully step down on moral ground,” the party added.
