APCU hails Cabinet decision on ex gratia to scribes' kin

GUWAHATI, June 27: The Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) has hailed the decision taken by the State Cabinet to pay ex gratia to the next of kin of jourlists killed by militants or miscreants.

The Cabinet of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal today decided to pay Rs 3 lakh as ex gratia to the next of kin of each jourlist killed by militants or miscreants.

An APCU delegation met Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on June 15, and among other demands, raised the demand for the payment of ex gratia to the next of kin of jourlists killed by miscreants or militants in the State. It was at the meeting Sonowal assured the jourlists’ team of accepting the demand raised by them. Sonowal did ask his Secretary Vishal Solangki to take up the matter in the presence of the visiting jourlists.
