APCU to constitute subdivisiol committee in Tinsukia district

DIGBOI, Feb 25:  Assam Press Correspondent Union (APCU), in its first executive meeting held on Saturday at Durga Bari auditorium at Doomdomma in Tinsukia district, decided to constitute a full-fledged subdivisiol unit across Tinsukia district, besides adopting several significant resolutions in the meeting.

The executive meeting, which was presided over by Robin Moran, the president of the Tinsukia district unit of the APCU, with Binda Konwar and other dignitaries of the union on the dais, adopted several other resolutions, including year-long agenda of activities in the rural areas, steps to promote the cause of the jourlists across the State, strengthening the media houses by means of workshops and awareness camps and penetration of the APCU for the socio-economic uplift of the rural population across the district. The house also underlined the need to work unitedly for the cause of the society in the wake of the government’s initiatives to boost the media fraternity in the State by means of several economic provisions.

 Various speakers extended their suggestions and all expressed their opinion to strengthen the union and determine its working schemes after the formation of adhoc committees for three different subdivisions of the district. The meeting, which witnessed a significant gathering comprising the media fraternity from various areas of Tinsukia district, also discussed at length regarding the institution of a memorial award for the working jourlists across the State. Amongst others, the meeting was attended by the members and office bearers of the district and central committee, besides the well-wishers who joined the organization afresh.
