Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) has criticized the BJP government for allegedly halting the Panchayat election. In a press statement, APMCC president Nabam Yakum said that halting of the Panchayat election is an injustice towards women empowerment.

“PRI is the only institution which gives the women an opportunity to participate in the decision-making processes,” said Yakum. The APMCC president, who attended a programme of the Changlang Mahila Congress recently, said most of the gender-related schemes were formulated and implemented by the Congress and those schemes have been just renamed by the present BJP Government. She said the “National Girls Child Day” scheme has been renamed as “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao” and the “Total Sanitation Programme” has been renamed “Swachh Bharat Yojna.”
