Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) office on verge of collapse’

Itanagar, July 7: The office of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), located at C-Sector here, is on the verge of collapse, posing a threat to the life and property of the officials and the building. APSCW Vice Chairperson Padmeswari Jomoh and Member Taba Rosy, informed that they were worried about the safety of the Commission office as it is on the brink of collapse.

The building is too old and due to land-cutting on its backside for construction of four-lane highway has created severe landslide and is in bad shape now. Any untoward incident may happen anytime, they added. Jamoh said that the office is small and congested.

The APSCW has requested for temporarily transfer the office to some other place and build a 5-storeyed building with parking facility. Meanwhile, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Land Management, and Environment & Forests Nabam Rebia visited the said building and assured to look into the matter on urgent basis.

Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner in-charge Talom Dupok said he would visit the office soon and added, if needed he would issue necessary direction for vacating the Commission's office premises.
