Arrest of illegal Migrant Motivator Exposes B’deshi Vote Bank Politics: AASU

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Friday termed the incident of nabbing an illegal migrant motivator by the Border Security Force (BSF) as nothing but a naked truth of politicians of the State greedy for using Bangladeshis as a vote bank to remain in power.

The BSF recently nabbed a person named Manmohan Majumdar on the charge of motivating Bengali Hindus to come to India. Majumdar is a resident of Cooch Behar, North Bengal. This revelation was made by the BSF after nabbing eleven people, including four minors, from Bagmara in South Garo Hills district. Mazumdar entered Bangladesh a week ago and he contacted all Bangladeshi Hindus with the help of one Bangladeshi national – Sukumar Dayal Hajong – asking them to accompany him to settle in India.

“Who is responsible for such incident? Why does not the government stop such incident? The government can easily stop such incident. All political parties and politicians are greedy to use Bangladeshis as their vote bank,” AASU chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjya told The Sentinel.

The incident has come at a time when the AASU and other ethnic organizations are spearheading a movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh.

Bhattacharjya said the AASU has been saying that illegal migration across the border is unabated and the recent incident of BSF is an evidence.
