Aruchal police cracks murder case

Itagar, Nov 19: Changlang police has solved a murder case of one Rat Mura who was found dead by the villagers on November 12 last at Khonji Pathar village under Bordumsa circle.

The body was found in a half decomposed state with face beyond recognition covered under bushes. The post mortem and inquest over the body was conducted by the police and message flashed to neighbouring police stations of Aruchal and Assam regarding the unidentified body, police said today. A day later, one Vinod Mura of Mohong village under Bordumsa circle identified the body to be of his niece late Rat Mura.

A special team was constituted with CI R Khomrang and OC Bordumsa R Borang under the close supervision of SDPO John Pada. Sources were activated and police got an important clue that the deceased was last seen with one Monjit Sonowal of Khouji Pathar village. Search operation was launched and the suspected accused Sonowal was apprehended by the team the next day on November 14.

On intense interrogation the suspected accused broke down and confessed to have murdered late Rat Mura. He confessed that he and the deceased had been in relation for past 6 months. As the accused was already in a serious relationship with another girl he decided to elimite Mura. He strangulated her on the intervening night of November 8 last, the sources added.
