Arunachal Governor BD Mishra Lauds Pema Khandu Government For Anti-Corruption Stand

Governor’s address on inaugural day of Assembly session

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Thursday lauded the Pema Khandu government for its crusade against corruption in the State.

“The government has made historic, transformational, systematic and structural changes which made the past two and a half year period a unique time for the State,” the Governor said in his customary address on the inaugural day of the Legislative Assembly.

Dr Mishra said the crusade against corruption, maintenance of law and order and a high trajectory of growth and development were the ‘Grand Trunk Routes’ being followed by the State Government.

“My government has zero tolerance for corruption and is pro-people and pro-poor. It has proactively been consultative and participative, where views and suggestions form all sections of the society was sought for,” the Governor said. “Peaceful environment and rule of the law have been the priority areas for the government. The culture of bandh, which had become a malaise for the State, has been curbed and disbanded,” he added.

The Governor informed that with a view to eliminate corruption and to bring transparency in the government procurement procedure, a conscious decision of online portal GeM (Government Electronic Market) programme for all government procurement had been effectively enforced in the State.

“Arunachal is the sixth State in India to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with GeM,” the Governor disclosed. Highlighting the initiatives of the State Government, Dr Mishra said for effective governance, the government this year created three more districts – Pakke-Kessang, Lepa Rada and Shi-Yomi. “In a step towards administrative decentralization, two Divisional Commissioners have been appointed and made functional, with Namsai (in East) and Yachuli (in West) as their headquarters,” he said. The Governor added that the government has also embarked upon extensive use of information technology in interaction and redressal of citizens’ grievances.
