Arunachal makes mark in Kolkata book fair

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh released six books, sold 408 books and 207 visitors recorded their valuable comments in visitor’s remarks book at the Arunachal Pradesh stall in the 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair’ 2019, held at Kolkata.

The International Kolkata Book Fair is the world’s largest book fair in term of visitors and the third largest book fair in term of books on display.

Director of research, Arunachal Pradesh, Bomken Pertin informed that around 23 lakh book lovers visited the 12-day book fair.

“The Arunachal Pradesh stall was illuminated graciously with its aesthetic presentation of thematic exhibition put up by the Directorate of Research, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

He also said that besides host State West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh was the only State Government participating in the book fair.

The Minister of Cooperative Agriculture of West Bengal Purendu Basu remarked “I love Arunachal. The collection of books is very useful”.

Meanwhile, Dr Subhalaxmi Das Banerjee, Sayak Ganguli, Faculty of Central University, Ranchi, Dr Shreya Bhattachari and Sohini Mitra said that, “Promote this far–east State. “It has vast social, cultural & bio-diversity, The collection of Monographs and publications on display are truly wonderful.”

“These are rich resources”, “A very enriching experience and a great initiation into the culture of Arunachal Pradesh” and “Extremely resourceful for students and academicians” respectively.”
