Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu reassures Indigenous Faith believers

ITANAGAR: Stating that the root of culture lies in language preservation, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has made a strong pitch to venture into this and asserted all concerned to lay emphasis in this direction.

The Chief Minister made this assertion while inaugurating the Nyishi Indigenous Art and Cultural Hall at Nyedar Namlo here on Sunday. On the preservation of local languages, he said the government is taking all necessary steps in supporting the community in this go by implementing tribal languages as third language in government schools.

He also said the government is always ready to support community-based organizations in their effort for language preservation, an official communiqué informed here today.

Apart from Hayuliang MLA Dasanglu Pul, Minister for Dept of Indigenous Affairs Nabam Rebia, local MLA Techi Kaso and other dignitaries were also present. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the 100 KVA distribution transformer sub-station and high mast light at Nyedar Namlo. In his address, Khandu paid tribute to former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul towards his contribution for the construction of the Art and Cultural Hall.

The Chief Minister assured full support of the government for further construction of Nyishi Archives cum Community Hall here at the academic block of the Nyedar Namlo premises. He also assured funds for construction of necessary RCC protection walls for protection of building premises from landslides.

Khandu said more than the standard of education for his children, what concerns him is that the children must be able to imbibe the local culture and language in their daily life. For that they must get assimilated in their own society to understand their culture better. If they are confident as an individual and have pride in their culture, then they can excel in any field, the Chief Minister added. While emphasizing on the role of women in preservation of culture, he said since women have great influence in family, and it's they who should play the lead role in the preservation and promotion of their local culture, the communiqué added.
