Arunachal Pradesh Proposed to have Music Academies across State

Union Minister of State for Culture (independent charge) Mahesh Sharma has pressed the need for setting up music academies in Arunachal Pradesh and this very act has impressed the governor of the state. Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra, being an ardent admirer of culture, has quite liked the state minister’s proposal to set up music academies in the state.

Governor Mishra even meets Sharma and informed him that Arunachal Pradesh is a state rich with vibrant cultural heritage and is bestowed with a large number of musical and cultural forms. An approach to preserve, practice and nurture the cultural beauty of the state is always welcomed by the governor.

Mishra said, “These heritage and traditions need to be preserved, promoted, and propagated. Therefore, setting up of music academies will be a strong foundation in this endeavour. Every tribe of its 26 major and 106 sub-tribes has a distinct and different cultural heritage.”

The proposal for the holistic development of Parasuram Kund in Lohit district too is raised by the governor. Along with this, the governor shared the finer points of the proposal. Notably, these points are prepared following Mishra’s visit and interactions with people at the famed pilgrimage site.

Before this, Mishra met Sports Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar as well and held a discussion over the matter of starting football academies in Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from the music academies, the governor also insisted on setting up a strong sports infrastructure in the state with support from the union sports ministry.

The governor, during these discussions, was also accompanied by Arunachal Pradesh Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, Sports Authority of Arunachal Chairman Bamang Tago and Khelo India’s state mission director Gumya Karbak.
