Arunachal Veteran Politician Gegong Apang rises again after deep slumber

Our Correspondent

Itanagar: Gegong Apang, the veteran political icon, who carved a niche for himself in the political turf of India at a tender age, may have taken a temporary pause but surely not out from the ‘mathematical game’- called democracy where might (numbers) has always been proved right.

It may be recalled that Apang in his fifth term had headed a BJP-led coalition government, the first BJP Govt in NE India. However, he had switched over his allegiance to Congress lock stock and barrel after for 40 days to Congress and led the government again after BJP lost 2004 Lok Sabha polls.

Remaining dormant in Congress for a long time, he had joined BJP 2014 and resigned from Saffron brigade on Tuesday. Reportedly, he has started his campaign for next assembly elections from his home turf Tuting-Yingkiong constituency but from which party is not clear. With a new face in the hot seat, changes are inevitable. It will be an acid test for a new leader and the state as well. The spirit of democracy or the number-politics will continue to face many a trials and tribulations before it matures. How long will it take?—is a million dollar question for everyone to think and act. The all powerful time, however, will continue to unfold what it has in store for the future. Let us keep fingers crossed to watch the time to flow for the outcome to surface!
