Arunachalee Girl Sandiya Gunglil Wins Bronze In Weightlifting

Itanagar: Arunachalee girl Sandiya Gunglil (14) has won a bronze medal in the 40-kg category for the state in the ongoing Youth National Weightlifting championship at Nagpur in Maharashtra. She took part for the first time on the first day of the championship on Sunday, a release by Arunachal Weightlifting Association said here on Monday. Trained by weightlifting coach Piyainu Chanu of Sangey Lhaden sports Academi at Chimpu, near here, Sandiya lifted snatch 40 kg, clean & jerk 52 kg totalling 92 kg.

However, Shankar Lapung and Tadar Agung could not win a medal under 55 kg boys category but ranked fourth and fifth respectively, the release added.
