ASCPCR takes cognizance of child rights scerio in Goalpara

Goalpara, March 14: Runumi Gogoi, chairperson of Assam State Commission for the Protection of Child Right (ASCPCR) , visited Goalpara on Saturday and took cognizance of the child rights scerio in the district.

Chairing a meeting at the additiol circuit house at Bhalukdubi with several stake holders, the chairperson directed the district administration to work for the best interest of children and take appropriate measures for their protection.

While Ajit rayan Hazarika, ADC, appraised the Commission of the health scerios in the district, Banti Talukdar, EAC, briefed about the recent steps taken by the administration for malnourished children, children with cleft lips and on steps taken against witch hunting practice in remote areas. 

The Commission also took up the matters relating to Right to Education and functioning of Anganwadi  centres, other child welfare schemes with the Education,  Social Welfare department and Child Welfare Committee.  The Labour and Education department officers were directed to ascertain the following of POCSO law in order to prohibit occurrences of sexual violence against children.

ASCPR also emphasized working in coordition with the government departments, especially with the police, and directed that every child in need of care and protection should be produced before the Child Welfare Committee.  Later, the Chairperson visited the government recommended children home and interacted with the inmates. Lalita Deka, consultant and Kangkan Bhuyan, administrative officer, ASCPCR accompanied the chairperson.
