ASDC attacks BJP for 'failing' to fulfil promises

HOWRAGHAT, February 22: The opposition of the hill district Karbi Anglong, Autonomous State Demand Council (ASDC) on Monday slammed the BJP. The ASDC through a pres note stated that the saffron party had failed to fulfil the commitment made by Union Home Minister Rajth Singh during an election campaign in the last parliamentary election held at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong, to give statehood to Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The ASDC said that Karbi as well as Dimasa leaders had no moral right to remain in the BJP. The leaders should immediately resign from their respective posts owing moral responsibility. The press note stated that the statehood issue was never referred by State BJP president Sarbanda Sonowal and leader Dr Himanta Sarma in their speeches during meetings. The ASDC also alleged BJP of cheating the people by publicizing the mes of Union Ministers who did not turn up in the meeting held at Diphu recently.
