The World No 1 Tai took an early lead with a startling start pushing Sindhu behind at 4-0, although the Indian fought back and grabbed two back to back points to get to 5-2. However, the World No 1 was quick to recover and was leading at 11-7 at the first break.

Post the first break, both the shuttlers took two points each and made it 13-9, after which Tai began her aggressive attacks pulling herself to a 20-13 lead and leading to a 21-16 win.

The second set saw the Taiwanese in better control of the game taking a 3-0 lead, however, Sindhu valiantly fought back to level scores at 4-4, but that did not prove to be enough to stop Tai from claiming victory.

The match saw Sindhu making some brilliant moves and voraciously fighting back, but the World No 1 who has been dominating the badminton circuit these days did not let her steal the show.

The Indian, however, won hearts and added another feather to the country's performance cap at Asian Games 2018 and became the first Indian to have contested a final at the Games.
