ASM Dibrugarh unit to observe black day on February 24

Dibrugarh, Feb 20: The Dibrugarh Zila Parishad of Asom Sanmilita Mahasangha (ASM) will observe black day for the indigenous people of the State on February 24 at the Dibrugarh Xahitya Rathi Lakshmi th Bezbarua Bhavan. The day is celebrated as black day since 2010 by ASM in protest against the signing of the Yandaboo treaty between the British and King Abha on February 24, 1826. Due to the signing of the treaty, the ASM claims that the indigenous people lost all their freedom.
ASM Dibrugarh Zila Parishad president Roop th Mili will hoist the ASM flag in the morning while chief advisor of ASM Dibrugarh unit, Niren Gogoi will offer his rich tribute to all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives during their fight against the British.
The open meeting held on the occasion will start from 10 am under the chairmanship of president, All Assam Ahom Xabha (AAAX), Satish Chandra Gogoi. The open meeting will be iugurated by advisor of ASM, Dibrugarh Zila Parishad, Niren Gogoi, while Principal DHS Kanoi College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, president, Asom Gramya Sangbadik Association (AGSA), Ramesh Chandra Saikia, president, Dibrugarh Zila Karmachari Parishad (DZKP), Indra Gogoi, president of Dibrugarh unit of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), Durlov Chetia, president of All Assam Mottock Yuba Chatra Sanmmilan (AAMYCS), Uday Sankar Mohan and president of Dibrugarh District Axam Xahitya Xabha, Krish Bora will attend the meeting as chief guest and guests respectively.
