Assam 'All-Geared-Up' To Celebrate Independence Day Amidst Boycott

GUWAHATI, Aug 13: Amidst boycott by rebel groups, Assam has geared up for the celebration of the 72nd Independence Day of India. Security has been alerted all over the State with special deployment in and around all sensitive areas and installations.

With NRC update exercise bring underway in the State the deployment of central armed police forces (CAPF) has been thick in the State, and as such adequate security personnel has been deployed in all important installations like government buildings, important bridges, oil refineries, industrial offices, etc. River patrolling has been intensified to prevent rebels from sneaking into the State, especially into Guwahati, taking the courses of the Brahmaputra and other rivers snaking through the State.

Meanwhile, Dispur has already given assignments to the ministers for the hoisting of the National Flag on the Independence Day. As usual, while the Chief Minister is going to unfurl the Tricolour at the Veterinary Field at Khanapara in Guwahati at 9 am, Siddhartha Bhattacharjee has been signed for hoisting the flag at Barpeta, Himanta Biswa Sarma for Golaghat, Atul Bora for Nalbari, Keshab Mahanta for Sivasagar, Chandan Brahma for Sonitpur, Rihon Daimary for Dibrugarh, Pramila Rani Brahma for Lakhimpur, Sum Ronghang for Morigaon, Pallab Lochan Das for Silchar, Bhabesh Kalita for Dhubri, Piyush Hazarika for Hojai, Topon Kumar Gogoi for Jorhat, Parimal Suklabaidya for Karimganj, Ranjit Dutta for Nagaon, Phani Bhushan Choudhury for Goalpara and Naba Kumar Doley for Tinsukia.
