Assam Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia, announces reception centres in 5 city PSs

3 rd edition of PRSI Guwahati chapter

GUWAHATI, July 15: The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Guwahati Chapter organized a one-day ‘North East Public Relations Conclave 2018’ on July 14on the theme ‘PR – The way ahead’ at NEDFi House, Guwahati. This event is in its 3rd year after 2 successful editions in the previous years. Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia, graced the event as the Chief Guest.

In his speech, Saikia underlined the need for robust Public Relations systems in all government and public sector undertakings for seamless connect with the public. In order to make the Assam Police a friendly face, he announced the setting up of reception centres in 5 police stations in the city to begin with. He remarked that while digital technology has ensured a 24 x7 connect all across the globe, it has also resulted in diminished person to person connect – a reason for the rising turmoil in the present world.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, speakers and the house, chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter Madhuchanda A Choudhury (NRL) gave a gist of the activities undertaken by PRSI Guwahati Chapter to promote the profession of PR in the region. The inaugural session was followed by 3 technical sessions on contemporary issues related to PR.

The first technical session was on the theme : PR as a tool for effective Governance. The second technical session was on the theme: Creating a best fit for a career in PR and the third technical session was on ‘PR in a digitally connected world’.

The valedictory session was graced by popular Assamese actress Barasha Rani Bishaya who shared anecdotes of her life and her sweet and bitter experiences as a celebrity which has made her emerge stronger and resolute. The session was moderated by Chapter Executive member Jumita Saikia (NEDFi)
