Assam in Back Foot Against Team Services

GUWAHATI: Assam is in the back foot against Team Services on day II in Ranji trophy tie in Delhi today. In reply to visitors first innings total 211, Services scored 213-2 in their first innings at stumps on Saturday. Rajat Paliwal remained not out on 104 and NK Singh (79) giving him accompany.

Assam started from their overnight first innings score190-7, added 21 runs in the morning before got out on 211. Captain Amit Singha, the top scorer in the innings, scored 56 and once he departed on teams total 198 Services didn’t take too much time to finish Assam innings. Sachinanda Pandey, the most successful bowler for Services, picked up 5-74. Diwesh Pathania (3-75) also bowled well in the innings.

Assam started well with the ball and quickly reduced Services to 2-8 but thereafter Rajat and N K Singh made good partnership on third wickets. The pair added unbeaten 205 runs which also ensured first innings lead. Services are now leading by 2 runs and still 8 wickets in their hand. Both the wickets, that Services lost today, were collected by Ranjeet Mali.
