Assam Police Detects Rs 173.10 Crore Property & Seized Documents

GUWAHATI: In pursuit of a ‘Bhrastachar Mukta Assam’ (Corruption-free Assam) under the Sarbananda Sonowal-led coalition government, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police have detected misappropriation cases amounting to Rs 173.10 crore of government fund and also seized large number of property and investment-related documents.

This has come to surface in a recently published report of the Assam Police. As per official data, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police has registered 25 cases and arrested 23 public servants (right from secretarial staff up to the rank of secretary to the Government of Assam) besides three civilians.

Altogether 18 cases have been disposed off while six cases were returned in charge sheets. Final Reports were submitted in 12 cases. Out of 39 regular inquiries initiated, 16 have been completed and actions as per law initiated.

Similarly from January 1, 2018 to December 12, 2018, the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell, Assam charge sheeted six cases and arrested seven public servants besides nine civilians.
