GUWAHATI, July 18: The Assam Police has taken the cyber attack the State NRC authority seriously. It has already sent a letter to Twitter on the false propaganda launched against NRC update in Assam.

In its missive to Twitter, the State police has given some references of some posts (comments) sent from avaaz.org, a web portal, via Twitter. The State police force is keeping a close watch on NRC’s Twitter account – NRC Updation Assam – avaaz.org and other social networking sites.

The sudden spurt in cyber attack on the State NRC authority since Monday last prompted the authority in Assam to inform the Assam Police of the development. The cyber attack in the form of a massive false campaign against the ongoing NRC update reeks of a conspiracy by some vested interests.

With a view to foiling the design against NRC update in Assam, a positive campaign has been set in motion in avaaz.org with an appeal to all to sign the petition in favour of the NRC.
