Assam Premier Club Championship begins in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Guwahati chapter of inaugural Assam Premier Club Championship kicked off today at Judges’ Field. Former Ranji player Shankar Datta inaugurated the opening match between River Rine Club and Titan Club. Winning the toss, River Rine were bundled out for 193 in 28.4 overs. Laxman Sikdar (32) and Dhruv Raaj Borah (31) were the main contributors. Dhurjyoti Kashyap took 4 wickets for 32 while Debojit Mahanta claimed 3 wickets. In reply Titan were all out for 167 in 33.1 overs. Pradyut Bikash hazarika scored 31. Dhruv Raaj, the Man of the Match, grabbed 2 wickets for 28.

Tomorrow Gauhati Town Club will face SG Club.

From Tezpur: Kamarchuburi CC beat New Friends Club by 3 wickets. Brief Score: New Friends 94/9 in 20 overs (Sumit Sutradhar 30, Rabi Chetry 3/10) lost to Kamarchuburi CC 96/7 in 19 overs (Akash Teotia 40, Sumit Sutradhar 3/9).

From Nalbari: Unique Sports Club thrashed Blue Star Youth Club by 81 runs. Winning the toss, Unique SC managed 205 in allotted 40 overs losing 8 wickets with the help of Ravikant Dhruv’s 84. Jahadul Islam added 38 runs.Mrinal Barman took 3 wickets for 35. Blue Star YC lost wickets in regular intervals and finally bowled out for 124 in 32.4 overs. Tailender Manash Goswami struck 33. Jitendra Shakya claimed 4 wickets for 16.

From Nagaon: Uday Sangha registered 10 wicket win over Polite Club in the low scoring affair. Anurag Debnath (4/20) and Arjun Dutta (4/6) restricted Polite Clud at 53 in 16.2 overs which was crossed by Uday Sangha’s openers Tusar Shyamal (24) and Manoj Dey (24) in 37 balls.

From Bokakhat: Little Star Club outplayed Jyotinagar Cricket Club by 89 runs in a 20-over affair. Markendeo Kashyap picked 6 wickets in 3 overs to bowled out Jyotinagar CC at just 42 while chasing 131.

Brief Score: Little Star 131/7 in 20 overs (Mridupaban Dutta 30, Bishnu Patra 2/23) beat Jyotinagar CC 42 in 11 overs (Markendeo Kashyap 6/11).

From Bajali: Startlit Club beat Sarupeta Cricket Club by one wicket. Brief Score: Sarupeta CC 136/10 in 28 overs (Biplab Mahanta 27, Partha Pratim Roy 4/20) lost to Startlit Club 140/9 in 39.1 overs (Hrishikest Sarma 49, Gunajit Baishya Nipu 3/16, Nayan Mani Choudhury 3/28)

Matches of Udalguri, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Jorhat have been abandoned due to bad weather.
