Assam Press Correspondents’ Union to observe 26th foundation day on April 30

GOLAGHAT: The 26th foundation day of Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) will be observed at Dergaon in Golaghat district on April 30. For the smooth celebration of the central foundation day of the organization, an organizing committee has been formed with MLA Bhaben Bharali as president, educationist Bhula Hazarika as working president, Pranab Chakraborty as chief secretary and Lachit Bora and Indrabhushan Mahanta as joint secretaries.

In a press statement, president and secretary of APCU, Golaghat Nabin Gohain and Pranab Chakraborty, said that the foundation day of APCU would be observed centrally at Dergaon under the aegis of APCU Golaghat district committee and with the help of the people of Dergaon on April 30. Prominent journalists would be awarded and a felicitation programme would also be held.

The foundation day programme will start with plantation of saplings by officer-in-charge of Dergaon Police Station, Prasanta Bora and Dergaon Forest Beat Officer, Niren Baruah. The 26th APCU foundation flag will be hoisted by Monoj Singh, president of APCU central committee, and smriti tarpan will be done by the working president, Mousumjyoti Baishya and secretary general, Hemanta Saikia.
