Assam register huge victory over Mizoram in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Cricket championship

GUWAHATI: Assam thrashed Association of Mizoram by 131 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Cricket championship held in Cuttack today. Good show by top order batsmen helped Assam to pile up huge 201-4 in their 20 overs. Later they restricted Mizoram to 70-6 in their 20 overs.

Invited to bat, Assam made good start in the game as both the openers-Pallav Kumar Das and Rishav Das- added 79 runs on the board in just 8 overs. Pallav got out first with his individual score 43 which he scored from 24 balls with the help of five boundaries and one six. His opening partner Rishav followed him but before that the batsman completed his half century. Rishav faced 42 balls to score 56 runs and there were seven hits to the fence.

Later Riyan Parag, who came into bat at number three position, just toyed with Mizoram bowlers. He smashed six boundaries and two huge sixes on way to remain unbeaten on 63.

Mizoram made poor start in the batting and lost the first wicket when the score was only 5. Thereafter they lost wicket on regular interval and finally managed to score 70-6 in their 20 overs. Abu Nechim Ahmed and Jitumoni Kalita picked up two wickets each.
