Assam Secretariat Under Data Centre And Next Gen Network

GUWAHATI: The Assam Secretariat Network owned by Secretariat Administration Department, Government of Assam is architected and implemented by NIC Assam at the Assam Secretariat Complex, Dispur. At an event on February 14 and 15, 2019, the project was recently recognized and awarded under the Data Centre and Next Generation Network (Category) at the event named Technology Sabha organized by the Express Computer (Indian Express Group).

According to a press release, the Assam Secretariat campus network is called as Next Generation Campus because it is the first campus based on IPv6, 40-Gig core Back-Bone with virtualization capabilities and wave 2 wifi enabled. The vision is to build Next Generation Campus Network which can provide users and devices transparency of the services that can be offered over the network for next 5-6 years. The Goal of this project is to come up with a Next Gen Campus Network which should be scalable, reliable, standard based open architecture, high performance, secured and transparent to the applications, devices and also be able to provide ease of management with automation capabilities.
