Assam to train 2000 Nursing Students from Tripura

Guwahati: The Assam Government has accepted the proposal of Tripura for training 2000 General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students of Tripura.

According to sources, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had written to Assam CM Biplab Kumar Deb to allow students of Tripura to avail nursing training and get hands-on experience from health institutions of Assam as the state has better healthcare infrastructure.

There is a severe dearth of nursing professionals in Tripura besides other northeastern states.

Besides accepting the proposal, the Assam Government has indicated to create post-training job opportunities for the trainees from its northeastern counterpart.

According to reports, there is also a plan to launch an e-health system to cater to and monitor the health delivery system in the state.

The state government besides attempting to digitise the healthcare is also stressing on the implementation of Ayushman Bharat, National Health Protection Mission, the health department officials of the state said.

The state govt is committed to expanding the health care delivery system to the poor and the vulnerable sections of the society.

The state government has targeted to bring 5.20 lakh families under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat.
