ASTC bus drivers stage protest, demand improvement of bus stand

Bongaigaon, July 14:  Demanding for improvement of the condition of the ASTC bus stand of Bongaigaon, the drivers and other employees of ASTC staged a protest on Thursday. The employees had stopped movement of the ASTC buses on Thursday as a part of their protest. Talking to media persons, an employee said that though the government was regularly shouting the slogan of ‘change’, but no change had taken place in Bongaigaon ASTC bus stand.   “This stand is in a poor condition since long and especially during rainy season, the condition worsens. Mud covers all way of the field and movement of people becomes almost impossible. We demanded several times for improvement of the bus stand but nothing was done. Hence we kept stopped movement of buses today as a mark of protest,” the employees said. This protest affected ASTC passengers. Tickets already issued by counters were returned to passenger due to uvailability of buses.
