ATTSA activists block NH-38

MARGHERITA, June 27: Activists of All Tea Tribes Student Association (ATTSA) Margherita Regiol Committee blocked the tiol Highway 38 at Dehing Tea Estate, Margherita for two hours on Saturday.

ATTSA Margherita Regiol Committee president Umesh Jail, secretary Lobo Murmu and more than 100 activists of ATTSA took part in the highway blockade. Lobo Murmu, secretary of ATTSA Margherita Regiol Committee said that tea tribes people hadcame to Assam more than 100 years ago and now they were being harassed in the me of NRC.

“We demand that mes of people from the tea tribes in Assam should be included in the NRC without any hassles,” said Lobo Murmu.  “If the Assam Government does not take this it seriously than we will intensify our agitation against the government,” he added.

A memorandum was submitted to the Tinsukia District Deputy Commissioner through the Margherita Circle Officer.
