ATTSA stages sit-in

DOOMDOOMA, July 7: Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA), Doomdooma Branch on Friday resorted to sit-in demonstration in front of the office of the Circle Officer (CO), Doomdooma Revenue Circle, Rupaisiding on tiol Highway No. 37 and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through CO.

The memorandum contained four demands mely, to take steps to admit all the students in Doomdooma College who had applied for admission in 2017, to urgently establish two degree level colleges at Doomdooma, to set up one Girls college, one technical institute lile ITI and five more Higher Secondary Schools and to provincialise the Science stream of the Doomdooma College. In their memorandum, ATTSA further stated that on June 30 they resorted to road blockade programme in demand of democratisation of education in view of deprivation of more than five hundred poor tea-tribes students from getting admission in Doomdooma College and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam.  

But ATTSA regretted that their rightful demand was totally overlooked by the State Government for redressal of their demands.The ATTSA further reminded to take immediate steps to  fulfill their demands. Otherwise they will be left with no other altertive but resort to intense agitatiol programme.
