Author of Sankardeva Mahakavyam honoured

UDALGURI, April 24: Bidyapati Dahal, the author of Sankardeva Mahakavyam, was honoured at Udalguri on his 81st birthday. A public meeting was organized at Pragatipur LP School by Udalguri district committee of Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha to honour him. Gayatri Bhattarai, the president of Udalguri district committee of ANSS, presided over the meeting and the purpose was briefed by Ram Upadhyaya, the general secretary of Udalguri district ANSS.

Prodeep Kumar Daimary, the former deputy chief of erstwhile BAC, along with other dignitaries, was present in the meeting. Dahal was born on April 23 in 1945 and authored more than 16 books in Nepali and Sanskrit. He has written epics on Sankardeva, Madhavdeva and Damodardeva in Sanskrit verses. He also received the national award for teaching and literary pension from the State government.
