'Autonomous councils to receive fund if they fulfill criteria'

SHILLONG, March 10: The Three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) will receive Rs 267.7 crore sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Fince  to be channelized through the State government on the basis of the compliance of the criteria laid down, stated the Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on the floor of the Assembly on Thursday. Answering to the call attention raised by the leader of the Opposition (LO) Don Kupar Roy, the Chief Minister said that the fund is coming and adherence to the laid norms is an essential. “After the 14th Fince commission decision to deny the Autonomous District Councils, we intervened and through the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, an amount has been allotted,” Sangma said. “The KHADC is entitled for Rs 133.12 crores, the GHADC with Rs 100.70 crores and the JHADC with Rs 33.75 crores. Besides, the three councils should come out with proposals on the development schemes and they should provide the physical and fincial utilization certificates in a time bound manner.
