SHILLONG: The implementation of the scheme of awarding computer, tablets to successful students of the Senior Secondary level certificate (SSLC) has not been abandoned, confirmed the Meghalaya Minister of Information Technology (IT) Hamletson Dohling on Tuesday, thereby allaying the fears of the students community that they will not have the same luxury under the new regime.

Speaking to newsperson on Tuesday, the Minister said that the process of finalizing the distribution of tablets is on by the department of IT. “Just to clear the confusion in the minds of the students, those who are currently studying in class 12 of different streams will get the accessories of better quality”. “It might take 7- 8 weeks before the procurements and the 25000 odd students that are entitled will be provided by the computer driven accesories to further their e-learning,” further stated Dohling, while adding, that the delay in distribution is basically to focus on quality of education that the students need.

The project of distribution of computer tablets is on keeping in view of the vision that the department wanted to provide to the passed out students of the registered schools. The scheme was first started by the Congress led government in 2013 before a slip off in between, due to a reason of plenty.
