Dibrugarh, July 1: Social-welfare group Brothers, in association with the Dibrugarh District Police, organized an awareness camp against superstitions and fake news at Dibrugarh Police Reserve on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, general secretary of Brothers as well human rights activist, Dibyajyoti Saikia said that the prevalence of such social ills was higher among the illiterate sections. As such, the media and the police could play a crucial role in helping them fight their superstitious beliefs, he added. He also spoke on how some miscreants use social media to ruffle things up in the society. The meeting was attended by many dignitaries including Superintendent of Police Gautam Bora.
