Awareness camp on NRC

Silchar, June 10: An awareness programme on NRC was recently organized by SDO (Civil) office, Lakhipur, at Lakhipur police station. Series of awareness camps are being held in order to make people realize that there is nothing to worry about the second draft list of NRC which has been scheduled to be publicized on June 30. Lakhipur circle office Pradip Kumar Gupta, SDPO Gaurav Kumar Agarwal, IPS S J Bora and Lakhipur police station office in-charge Inspector Anwar Hussain Choudhury advised people not to lend ears to rumours which are being spread and nurtured by some group of people.

Police and Village Defence Party (VDP) personnel have been deployed and instructed to remain vigilant at each and every NSK in entire Lakhipur sub division. Negligence of duty on their part will be dealt with severity. The draft lists will be hanged at every GP office on that day. COVDO has been asked to see that no VDP personnel neglect his duties. There are around 25 NSKs in Lakhipur sub division. J R Lalsim, Yahidul Islam and Pritam Raja Sharma are constantly keeping a vigil.
