Awareness camps held in Lakhimpur district against witch-hunting

Lakhimpur, June 15: Social organization Brothers which has been focusing on evils and superstitions in the society, had organized some awareness camps in Lakhimpur district during the past few days.

These awareness camps were held in backward areas of Lakhimpur district like Majuli, Bihpuria, Bogidi,  Johing, Koilamari, Harmutty, Nowboicha and Dolohat tea garden. These camps were aimed at creating unity, equality and brotherhood among the people.

Dibyajyoti Saikia, social activist and secretary general of Brothers, expressed his views on the issue of witch-hunting. He said that through such camps, the evil of witch-hunting could be fought by creating awareness and scientific temperament among people, removal of illiteracy and establishing brotherhood among people.

Many social workers, educationists and administrative officials took part in these camps. In addition to these awareness camps, a bator at titled Diani Kandor Aroror Kaahini by Prakash Medhi was staged. Debojani Das who has acted in many Assamese serials, acted in the play.
