Awareness meeting on Assam Excise Act, 2018

KALAIGAON, May 21: The Udalguri Excise officials organized an awareness meeting on the Assam Excise Act, 2018 on Monday in the premise of Kalaigaon Higher Secondary School. The meeting was presided over by Nabin Ch. Baro, former Inspector of Schools, Udalguri. Pritam Borah, Superintendent of Udalgur Excise, spoke in the meeting. “No person can sell country-made liquor or foreign liquor in the open market. Nobody can keep stock of alcoholic product without proper license. As per law, such person will be grilled under section 53/54. So, people should maintain distance from illegal activities,” he said. Biraj Kr. Baruah, Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle, addressed the meeting and said that consumption of any alcoholic product in open place was a major crime according to the Assam Excise Act. He also requested people to create awareness among the new generation to avoid such activities.
